Paddington Homes in Hillingdon, West London, is searching for an inspiring, hands-on, and emotionally intelligent Deputy Manager. You'll play a key part in shaping the future for our children--and supporting your team to deliver the highest standards of therapeutic care.
What You'll Be Doing
Support the Registered Manager in ensuring high-quality, safe, and consistent care that meets Ofsted and legislative requirements.
Lead and guide a team of staff to deliver care that promotes positive outcomes for children.
Maintain the home's standards and ethos in line with its Statement of Purpose.
Ensure shift leadership, handovers, and paperwork are completed accurately and professionally.
Support team morale, reflective practice, and staff development through supervision and mentoring.
Lead by example in managing behaviours, risk, and care planning.
Liaise effectively with local authorities, therapists, schools, and health professionals.
Ensure care plans and records accurately reflect the social, emotional, cultural, and therapeutic needs of each child.
Address issues of staff performance or conduct and support ongoing team growth.
Promote a safe, nurturing environment in line with safeguarding and health & safety regulations.
What We're Looking For
Proven ability to lead and motivate a team in a residential childcare setting.
Creativity in managing behaviours and finding solutions to challenges.
Skilled staff experienced with trauma-informed care and supporting children with EBD.
Compassionate and emotionally intelligent approach to both children and staff.
Confidence in shift leading and a positive, proactive communication style.
A sense of humour and resilience in what can be a demanding, but hugely rewarding role.
Essential Requirements
At least 1 year of experience in residential childcare with supervisory responsibilities.
Level 3 or 4 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
Enhanced DBS (we'll support you if you need a new one).
Ability to commit to a changing shift pattern.
Team player with strong decision-making and organisational skills.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable (but not essential):
Good IT and record-keeping skills.
Emotional and social intelligence.
A 'can-do' attitude and openness to learning and feedback.

As a Deputy Manager Mentor you'll formally supervise and mentor less experienced staff, supporting reflective practice, performance development, and ensuring consistent therapeutic care.
