Reports to: Registered Manager

The Role:

As Deputy Manager, you will:

Support the Registered Manager in leading the home and ensuring the highest standards of care, dignity, and respect.

Provide visible, approachable leadership as part of the senior management team.

Work regular care shifts as Shift Leader, ensuring smooth running of shifts and guiding colleagues on the floor.

Take part in the out-of-hours on-call rota to support staff and residents when needed.

Promote a positive, inclusive culture where residents feel safe, valued, and truly at home.

Deputise for the Registered Manager in their absence, ensuring continuity of leadership and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Culture: Inspire, motivate, and support the care team to deliver person-centred care, and foster a supportive, inclusive workplace.

Quality & Standards: Ensure compliance with CIW standards, policies, and best practice, contributing to audits, care reviews, and continuous improvement.

Care Delivery: Promote safe, effective care practices and step in where improvements are needed.

Team Development: Supervise, coach, and mentor staff, supporting recruitment, training, and appraisals.

Resident & Family Engagement: Build strong relationships with residents and families, ensuring their voices shape daily life in the home.

Operational Support: Assist in managing staffing, budgets, and resources effectively.

About You

We are looking for someone with:

A caring, resident-first approach.

Proven experience working in a care home or similar setting, with strong leadership skills.

NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or working towards higher).

Excellent interpersonal skills, with a compassionate, empathetic approach.

Confidence in decision-making, even under pressure.

Flexibility to work care shifts and participate in the on-call rota.

Desirable:

Previous experience in a Deputy Manager or senior care role.

Knowledge of CIW standards and regulatory frameworks.

Commitment to continuous personal and professional development.
