Job Description

We are a small, family-run nursery with a friendly and supportive atmosphere. Our ethos is to create a home-from-home environment where children feel safe, valued, and inspired to learn through play. We are looking for a Deputy Manager who shares our passion for early years education and will help us provide the highest standards of care and learning.

Role Purpose



The Deputy Manager will support the Nursery Manager in the day-to-day running of the nursery, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, promoting a nurturing environment, and leading a dedicated team to deliver outstanding early years provision. This role includes stepping up in the absence of the Nursery Manager.

Key Responsibilities



Leadership & Management



Support the Nursery Manager in overseeing daily operations. Lead by example, modelling best practice in childcare and safeguarding. Supervise, mentor, and support staff to achieve their potential. Assist with rota planning, staff deployment, and cover arrangements.

Childcare & Education



Ensure the EYFS framework is delivered effectively and consistently. Promote a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment. Build strong relationships with children, families, and staff. Monitor and track children's development, supporting staff in assessments.

Compliance & Administration



Support with inspections, audits, and compliance with Ofsted standards. Maintain accurate records, including safeguarding and health & safety. Contribute to policies, procedures, and improvement plans. Assist with enrolments, parent communications, and general administration.

Person Specification



Essential:



Level 3 or above qualification in Early Years/Childcare. Experience working in an early years setting, with supervisory/leadership experience. Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework and safeguarding. Excellent communication and organisational skills. Warm, approachable, and supportive personality.

Desirable:



Paediatric First Aid qualification. Previous experience in a deputy manager or room leader role. Familiarity with Ofsted inspections and compliance processes.

Pay: 29,120.00-31,000.00 per year
