Deputy Nursery Manager (Supernumerary Role) - No contact from Agencies



We are seeking a passionate and experienced Early Years professional to join our nursery team in a supernumerary position, with a strong focus on learning, development, and staff support.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys mentoring others, supporting leadership teams, and driving high-quality practice across the nursery.

Key Requirements



A valid First Aid certificate A current DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) Safeguarding & Child protection training

Key Responsibilities



Work in a supernumerary capacity, focusing on learning and development across the nursery Support the Nursery Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the nursery and confidently step in when required Ensure high standards of care, safety, safeguarding, and well-being for all children Lead, mentor, train, and support new and existing staff members to maintain high-quality practice Complete staff supervisions and contribute to performance management and professional development Identify staff training needs and support ongoing professional development Train, supervise, and support staff and students, modelling high-quality early years practice at all times Lead or support staff meetings and assist room leaders with planning and running their meetings Provide consistent guidance and ongoing support to room leaders as required Support curriculum planning, implementation, observation, assessment, and identifying next steps for children's learning Support the development and implementation of effective routines that meet children's individual needs Work collaboratively with families and Local Early Years Authorities to support children's care, learning, and development

Qualifications & Experience



Previous experience as a Deputy Manager or in a senior early years leadership role Level 3 qualification or above in Early Years Education (or equivalent) In-depth understanding of the EYFS statutory framework Strong knowledge of Ofsted inspection requirements and quality improvement processes Experience supporting curriculum planning, assessment, and next steps Understanding of inclusion, SEND, and equality and diversity Experience supporting or leading a team, including supervising staff and students Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work collaboratively and positively within a team Excellent organisational and time-management skills A compassionate, caring, and professional approach Ability to remain calm, confident, and effective in pressured or challenging situations
