Job Summary



An EXCITING OPPORTUNITY has become available as we are seeking a Deputy Manager to join our team at a Residential Children's Home. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills and experience of working in a senior role with children and young people with Emotional Behaviour Difficulties (EBD) within a residential children's homes. As a Deputy Manager, you will be responsible for safeguarding children, supervising staff, managing daily operations and ensuring high-quality care and support is delivered to our children and young people.

Duties



Assisting the Registered Manager to achieve the aims and objectives of the Statement of Purpose Have an in-depth knowledge of and actively safeguard and promote the welfare of the children and young people in our care through the delivery of a safe, structured, and nurturing practice Identify risks of child exploitation, radicalisation, bullying and other forms of abuse children and young people may be vulnerable to or experiencing Maintain a safe, caring and homely environment for children and young people Respond and report any unsafe practices, conditions or concerns immediately To deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager Complete regular supervisions with Residential Support staff Record and report all information on an digitalised children's system, update placement plans/care plans, risk assessments Promote good practice in the team in accordance with company's policies and procedures Contribute to the devising, implementing and evaluation of changes, with the involvement of front-line staff, to continually improve services, systems and standards, in conjunction with the Registered Manager and the Senior Management team To have good knowledge of the Children's Home Regulations 2015 and deliver care and support in line with the 9 Quality Standards Complete direct work, consultations, and key work sessions with children and young people to obtain their views, wishes and feelings To complete staff rota's Complete weekly audits of the children's home Attend and contribute to monthly team meetings Understand, and ensure the implementation of the Health and Safety policy, and Emergency and Fire procedures. Follow, undertake and update risk assessments Participate in and contribute to multi-agency meetings, completing reports in preparation for and taking minutes Manage and deal with on-call incidents
Required

Proven ability to work on own initiative.

Hold a Level 5 or working towards a Diploma for Residential Childcare or equivalent.

Knowledge and understanding of issues relating to people with emotional & challenging behaviours & learning difficulties.

A commitment to a service which provides support to vulnerable individuals, and which is respectful and according to the individuals' wishes.

Good communication skills - written and verbal. Ability to communicate effectively with young people, colleagues, family members and other professionals.

Commitment to training and self-development

Car driver, willing to use own car as required

To complete shift work which include sleep in duties

It is essential that you are able to work well as part of a team and on an individual basis
