Deputy Manager x2 (DCS) Job description

Based at: Across the service area, (within Doncaster)

Contract Type: x2 Permanent, Full time - 37 Hours per week 1 of the positions has the all-inclusive allowance as it includes work within a rota system + 8.5 % all-inclusive allowance, the other is a week day post.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the Housing & Independence Service as a Deputy Manager for the new phases of the Key to Your Future Project, this is newly acquired supported accommodation, we are looking for experienced and motivated individual to support staff with our young people on their road to independence.

We are committed to ensuring that care experienced young people transition successfully to living independently. It is recognised that young people achieve independence at different ages linked to their cognitive ability, early life experiences, resilience and their experiences with regulated care settings. Taking this in to account we developed the Housing & Independence service which as part of this would deliver the \xe2\x80\x98Key to Your Future Project\xe2\x80\x99 in its entirety.

The \xe2\x80\x98Key to Your Future Project\xe2\x80\x99 utilises the Trusts Psychological services to provide formulations of the young people prior to them starting the programme as well as a dialectical behavioural Therapy based programme, that the young people work through with staff support. The young people will also be completing the Key to My Future preparation for independence programme. This well-established programme that was developed collaboratively with our young people leaving care, focuses on the practical aspects of managing a tenancy and living independently. All the work they completed on the programme will be processed through to AQA\xe2\x80\x99s unit award scheme for accreditation certificates.

Post 1, is predominantly Monday to Friday there will be some occasional weekend work maybe required.

Post 2, is based on a rota system as such it will include evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

The applicant will need:

  • To have experience of working with young people in and leaving care.
  • To be a supportive and inspirational leader of the support team.
  • Some experience of therapeutic approaches and a willingness to develop the use of these in the Project
  • To be an innovative and creative thinker who looks for opportunities to improve the offer to our young people
  • Have an excellent understand of the pathway to Independence & Housing for young people
  • To have a good understand of the Health & Safety responsibilities of the building
