Deputy National Director
Health Protection and Screening Services

Applications are invited for a full-time Deputy National Director of Health Protection and Screening Services in Public Health Wales (PHW), the national public health organisation in Wales. This national role is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and experienced specialist to join the organisation\'s leadership cadre to work together for a healthier Wales.

Working at an All Wales level, the post holder will contribute to the PHW Long Term Strategy delivering improved outcomes for population health in Wales. The role also provides opportunity for leading and engaging in public health partnership working across Wales, the UK and Internationally.

As the Deputy to the National Director of Health Protection and Screening Services, the post holder will have responsibility for supporting the National Director of Health Protection and Screening Services and Executive Medical Director across their portfolio and, on their behalf, lead the development and delivery of a specific portfolio of responsibilities including:

  • Leading Strategic Public Health partnerships
  • Managing the organisation\'s Emergency Planning, Response and Recovery function
  • Leading Directorate Programmes as determined by the National Director
  • Providing support for Professional Leadership/Development and Professional Regulation of the specialist workforce
You will be a key member of the Directorate Leadership Team, working with the team to deliver high-level objectives to: provide excellent services and innovative practice; create a multidisciplinary, diverse and engaged workforce and nurture integration, programmes and strategic partnerships. Applications are open to registered medical consultants and multi-professional public health consultants. The role is substantive
