We are now seeking an experienced and motivated
Deputy Nursery Manager
to support the Nursery Manager in leading the team and ensuring the nursery provides exceptional care and education for all children.
Main Responsibilities
As the Deputy Nursery Manager, you will:
Support the Nursery Manager in the
setup and opening
of the nursery, ensuring all operational, compliance, and curriculum standards are met prior to launch.
Help establish nursery routines, staff structures, and quality standards from the ground up.
Assist in recruiting, training, and mentoring new team members.
Support the day-to-day running of the nursery, ensuring a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment.
Oversee planning, observations, and assessments in line with the EYFS framework.
Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or Deputy DSL, ensuring a strong safeguarding culture throughout the setting.
Build positive relationships with children, parents, staff, and external agencies.
Take responsibility for the nursery in the Manager's absence, maintaining a high standard of practice and compliance.
Contribute to quality improvement, audits, and Ofsted readiness.
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
A full and relevant
Level 3 Early Years qualification
(Level 5 desirable).
Strong understanding of the
Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
and Ofsted requirements.
Proven experience in a
supervisory, senior, or deputy role
within an early years setting.
Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
Passionate about early years education and committed to continuous improvement.
Confidence to help establish a new nursery from the ground up.
Desirable:
Paediatric First Aid Certificate.
Experience as a Designated Safeguarding Lead or SENCo.
Experience supporting a nursery through pre-registration or new openings.
