We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to support the daily operations of our nature led nursery. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, with a passion for early childhood education and working with children. The Deputy Manager will assist the Manager in overseeing staff, ensuring compliance with childcare standards, and maintaining a safe, engaging setting for children.
Responsibilities
Assist the Manager in the organisation and supervision of daily centre activities
Support staff in delivering high-quality childcare aligned with early childhood education principles
Lead and motivate team members to ensure a positive, collaborative working environment
Oversee children's activities, ensuring they are age-appropriate, educational, and enjoyable
Maintain effective communication with parents and carers regarding children's progress and centre updates
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and childcare policies
Support staff recruitment, training, and development programmes
Manage administrative tasks including record keeping, planning schedules, and reporting as required
Drive centre initiatives to promote continuous improvement in service delivery
Qualifications
Proven management experience within a childcare or nursery setting
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team
Experience working with children, ideally within early childhood education or nursery environments
Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
Childcare qualifications recognised by relevant authorities (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Childcare) or equivalent
Knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early years education
Valid driving licence is desirable for travel between centres or community engagement activities
Ability to work flexibly, and cover sickness/holidays.
