The Deputy Nursery Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the nursery alongside the Nursery Manager, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children. This role involves managing staff, developing educational programmes, and fostering positive relationships with children and their families. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a passion for early childhood education. This role has additional responsibilities for overseeing the under 2's provision working alongside the room leaders.
Responsibilities
Manage the daily operations of the nursery, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations alongside the nursery manager and in their absence.
Lead and supervise nursery staff, providing guidance and support to foster a collaborative team environment.
Develop and implement age-appropriate educational programmes that promote children's development in line with early years frameworks.
Maintain open communication with parents and guardians, addressing any concerns or queries regarding their children's care and development.
Monitor children's progress and well-being, ensuring that individual needs are met effectively.
Organise activities that stimulate learning through play, creativity, and exploration.
Conduct regular staff meetings to discuss policies, procedures, and best practices in childcare.
Manage administrative tasks such as record keeping, budgeting, and resource allocation.
Skills
Proven experience working with children in a nursery or childcare setting.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse team effectively.
Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
Knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices.
Ability to drive initiatives that enhance children's learning experiences.
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in managing nursery operations.
