Due to the expansion of the Kinship & Permanence Team, we are seeking a motivated and experienced Deputy Team Manager to join our dynamic team, supporting the Team Manager to deliver a high-quality service to children and their kinship carers.
The Kinship and Permanence Team is co-located within Foster Wales Bridgend based in Civic Offices. We are a team of 15 staff comprising of Supervising Social Workers, Reunification Support Workers and a Social Work Assistant. We have a dedicated Business Support staff who work closely alongside the team providing essential support to both staff and Managers.
Our purpose is to ensure children can remain within their families wherever possible either through Kinship Fostering or Special Guardianship arrangements through robust assessments and their carers receive a consistent and high level of support via supervision, annual review, training and service provision. We are passionate and committed to improving the quality of our service to meet the needs of children and kinship carers, working collaboratively with them to ensure our service is shaped by their needs. The role of the Deputy Team Manager will be primarily to assist the Team Manager in the management and co-ordination of the Team's work in the assessment, review and support of Kinship Foster Carers and Special
Guardians, ensuring they and the children in their care are supported by a compassionate, effective and efficient service.
Working with the Team Manager you will oversee the day-to-day operational functions of the team in regard to performance and quality assurance and ensure the service is compliant with current legislation, policies, best practice, procedures and systems. You will be required to deputise for the Team Manager in their absence assuming delegated responsibility for the management of the team.
As a Deputy Team Manager, you will play a key role in supervising and appraising staff to ensure statutory requirements are met and staff are supported in terms of their well-being and afforded training and development opportunities.
To meet the requirements of this role you will be able to demonstrate a high level of experience of working within Kinship Fostering and Special Guardianship sectors, with extensive knowledge of children's and fostering / special guardianship legislation in Wales and the regulatory responsibilities of a fostering service. You will have a proven track record in managing effective oversight of operational tasks of a fostering service including performance and compliance, budget control, supervision of staff, organisation of foster panels and be able to demonstrate a high level of skill in the quality assurance and contribute to the development of the service.
We are a Signs of Safety Local Authority, whilst experience of this would be desirable, training will be provided. What is an expectation is your ability to demonstrate that you can work from a strengths-based perspective, able to co-produce our service alongside children and carers, working in partnership with children's safeguarding and care experienced teams, legal department, corporate partners and other agencies who form part of the support services to our children in Bridgend and across Wales.
