About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced

Mental Health Nurse (RMN) or Learning Disability Nurse (RNLD)

to join our leadership team as Deputy Ward Manager at [Hospital Name]. This pivotal role combines clinical expertise with leadership responsibilities, supporting the Ward Manager in delivering outstanding patient care while developing our nursing team.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Leadership:

Provide senior nursing oversight for patients with complex mental health or learning disability needs Ensure delivery of evidence-based, trauma-informed care Conduct clinical audits and implement quality improvements Act as safeguarding lead for the ward

Operational Management:

Deputise for the Ward Manager during absences Manage staff rotas and daily ward operations Lead multidisciplinary team meetings Oversee risk assessments and care planning

Staff Development:

Mentor and supervise junior staff members Conduct appraisals and support professional development Lead on staff training initiatives Foster a positive, supportive team culture

Essential Requirements:

NMC registration as RMN or RNLD Minimum 3 years' post-registration experience in mental health/learning disability settings Proven experience in a senior/supervisory role Excellent knowledge of Mental Health Act and safeguarding procedures Strong leadership and decision-making skills Commitment to service improvement
