Main Purpose of Job & Key Responsibilities

The Application Engineer is responsible for configuring, supporting, and maintaining technical product data to ensure accurate build specifications, optimal product performance, and smooth sales-to-production transitions. This role acts as a technical bridge between Engineering, Sales, and Manufacturing, offering product support, configuration expertise, and engineering insight across new and existing product ranges.



Create, maintain, and update Master Bills of Materials (BOMs) and manufacturing routes to reflect product structure and build accuracy. Manage and maintain configurator options and product selection rules in alignment with engineering standards and commercial needs. Provide technical support, product selection advice, and application-based recommendations to the Sales team and end customers. Review handover and customer documentation to confirm correct configurations and propose optimal technical solutions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Sales, Production, Procurement, and Quality to ensure product readiness and accuracy. Contribute technical expertise to engineering change requests (ECRs) and new product development (NPD) initiatives. Identify and initiate ordering of long lead-time components to align with project schedules and production planning. Develop and maintain HMI (Human Machine Interface) programs to support product functionality and user interaction. Perform product and component sizing and contribute to the design of elements to meet application requirements. Generate and maintain technical documentation, including installation guides, datasheets, and configuration manuals, to support both internal use and field applications. Support or lead efforts to evaluate machine performance, including aspects such as noise, speed, or efficiency, to verify design intent. Provide technical fault-finding and diagnostics support as needed, either on-site or remotely.

Qualifications

Degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering. Proficiency with CAD (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and configuration tools. Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar). PLC or HMI knowledge (preferred but not essential)

Proven Skills

A strong personality with energy, drive, adaptability, problem solving and decision-making capability. Ideally, having worked with similar electrical products and can bring an aligned and best practise experience to allow the continued growth of the engineering team / business. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, comfortable presenting to and engaging with key working parties both internally and externally.
