you will be responsible for working as part of the Engineering team to develop and innovate products for manufacture using new and emerging technologies to support the business growth plans. You will perform analysis, design and development work for small sized products and projects under the supervision of Principal Engineers and should be capable of producing full documentation, drawings technical specifications and user manuals pertaining to project or product.
You will be used to working to profession and industry standards in a safety critical industry and will be used to managing your own time management and delivery to quality, cost and time deliverables as part of your project work.
In addition to product development, you will be involved in project management activities, assisting in planning and managing project timelines to ensure that milestones are achieved, and projects are delivered on schedule. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including electronics engineers, mechanical engineers and product managers will be essential for seamless project execution and ensure alignment with overall project goals.
Your role will also encompass supporting the manufacturing team by identifying and implementing process build improvements to enhance efficiency and product quality. You will provide technical assistance to resolve any issues that arise during the manufacturing process, ensuring smooth production flow.
In the realm of procurement and supply chain management, you will coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure the timely procurement of components and materials and assist in managing prototyping.
Customer support will be another key aspect of your role. You will address customer inquiries and provide technical support where applicable to product orders and specifications.

Essential criteria:
Degree (or equivalent qualification) in the field of
Mechanical
Engineering
Extensive knowledge and ability with Mechanical Design Calculations and Formulas
Experience in product design lifecycle - from concept to introduction into manufacturing (ideally in a safety critical industry)
Experience of design office revision control and file management
Can demonstrate effective time management skills with the ability to work on numerous projects running simultaneously
Experience in component obsolescence management
Strong customer focus
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent team player
Desirable criteria:
Experience/knowledge of rail industry standards
Knowledge of quality assurance and CI
Knowledge of fabrication and manufacturing techniques
Knowledge of value engineering and materials selection
Product safety knowledge
