Mechanical Project / Design Engineer - Solidworks Implementation Lead

Salary 47,000 - 52,000 (dependant on experience)

25 days holiday plus bank holidays.

37.5 hour week Monday - Friday, early finish friday dependant on hours worked

Bradgate design and build custom containers, modules and enclosures to any size, shape or purpose from 2m wide to 130 tonnes when fully equipped for a wide range of applications including power generator enclosures, offshore containers, railway equipment modules, switchgear enclosures, water treatment units, telecommunications systems, electrical equipment along with pumps and compressors.

We are looking for a

hands-on Senior Design Engineer

to lead our shift from AutoCAD to

SolidWorks & PDM

, bringing modern CAD governance and best practices into our design office.

What You'll Do

Lead and deliver the migration from AutoCAD to SolidWorks. Build processes, train the team, and manage the PDM rollout. Establish SolidWorks manufacturing workflows, ensuring high-quality and consistent production drawings. Produce detailed CAD models and manufacturing drawings for our bespoke modules in SolidWorks and AutoCAD complying with ISO and customer specific specifications. Collaborate with Sales, Project Management, Operations, Quality and Subcontractors to ensure units have been designed with client, cost and quality in mind. Liaise with suppliers to source project specific equipment required to create a bespoke engineering solution.

Who You Are

5+ years' experience in a fabrication or sheet-metal manufacturing environment. Very strong SolidWorks experience with prior exposure to PDM implementation or governance. Technically confident in sheet metal design & fabrication. Educated to HNC level (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering. A natural leader: someone who can influence, mentor, and drive change without needing formal management responsibility. Enthusiastic about modernising processes and passionate about CAD transformation.
