Design Estimator
Location: Wymondham, Norfolk
Contract: Permanent

Hi-SPAN is looking to recruit a Design Estimator to join our busy team based in Wymondham.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and technically minded individual to thrive within a successful and vibrant team, supporting projects across the structural steel sector.

As a key contributor to our design and estimation process, you will help ensure clients receive safe, efficient and cost?effective steel solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Interpret client drawings and technical specifications to inform your design and quotation work, ensuring proposals are accurate, compliant and aligned with project requirements. Produce designs and layout proposals using our in-house software to support safe, efficient and cost-effective outcomes, giving clients clarity and enabling precise costing. Prepare quotations for Hi-SPAN elements based on your designs, providing clear, timely and well-structured cost information to support successful bids. Liaise with clients, contractors and internal teams to clarify requirements ensuring all information is correct and reducing the risk of rework or misinterpretation. Provide technical support to the sales and production teams as required helping refine proposals and resolve design or fabrication challenges. Carry out occasional site visits to gather information and assess project constraints, enabling more accurate designs and strengthening communication with clients. Manage your workload effectively to deliver accurate designs and quotations within agreed timeframes, supporting smooth project flow and maintaining high customer satisfaction.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Background in structural steelwork (preferred but not essential). Experience in CAD detailing would be a strong advantage. Confident communicator, able to engage with people at all levels. Full UK driving licence. Good general computer skills; competent user of Microsoft Office applications. GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent). Ability to work accurately, manage your own workload and use your own initiative. Strong attention to detail and a practical, problem-solving approach.

Based at our office in Wymondham, Norfolk.
