Grow people. Shape products. Make an impact.

At Cube, we believe design can make a real difference. From teaching life-saving first aid to helping refugee students stay connected, our apps and platforms have already reached millions of people.

We're now looking for a Design Team Lead to help us take things up a notch. Someone who can support and grow our designers, while still getting stuck into the work themselves. You'll be shaping projects from discovery to delivery, setting the bar high for quality, and stepping in when a leadership presence is needed.

Beyond people management, this role creates the conditions for designers to thrive: shaping impactful products while keeping curiosity, inclusivity, and craft at the heart of our work.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Design Team Lead, you'll be:

Coaching, mentoring, managing, and running 1:1s with our design team Jumping into projects hands-on when your skills are needed Leading the team to deeply immerse in client and user problems--gathering evidence, challenging assumptions, and shaping a clear shared understanding before solutions are defined Raising the bar on design craft across research, UX, and UI Making sure accessibility and inclusivity are baked into everything we deliver Improving the way we work - from design systems to tools and processes Collaborating with PMs, devs, and clients to shape feasible, effective outcomes together and ensure everyone is aligned on what really matters Representing design in pitches, client chats, and cross-team meetings Building a positive, curious culture that helps everyone grow

Who You Are

You're an experienced design leader who thrives on balancing craft with coaching. You love elevating design quality, guiding product direction, and supporting people's growth.

Essentials:

Proven track record leading, mentoring and managing design teams delivering high quality digital products A portfolio that shows you can take a product from research through to polished UI that supports intuitive user experiences You're skilled at immersing in the diverse problem spaces and using evidence and judgement to inform design decisions Confident with Figma and other modern design/prototyping tools Comfortable running workshops, critiques, and strategy sessions Clear communicator - whether you're chatting with clients, stakeholders, or the team Happy to balance leading with rolling up your sleeves and designing A collaborative, adaptable and positive mindset - you know when to zoom into details and when to step back Experience with design systems - building, maintaining, and evolving them Curiosity about the evolving design landscape, with a proactive drive to explore and experiment with new tools, methods, and technologies - sharing what you learn to expand the team's options and adaptability. Background in agency environments or working across multiple clients/projects
