Job Description

We're looking for a skilled and detail-oriented

Design Technician

to join our dynamic team. In this role, you'll be instrumental in transforming design concepts into precise technical drawings, supporting the development of tailored solutions that meet client requirements. Your work will bridge the gap between creative design and technical execution, helping bring projects to life while ensuring accuracy and compliance with specifications.

Working Hours:


This is a full-time role of 39 hours per week, with a schedule of:

Monday to Thursday: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Friday: 8:00 am - 3:30 pm
We're open to flexible arrangements including part-time hours, job shares, or alternative schedules. Please indicate your preferred working pattern when applying.

Key Responsibilities:



Interpret architectural and engineering drawings to create bespoke commercial designs aligned with customer specifications, using industry-standard software. Provide timely and professional support to customers, including preparing detailed quotations and design proposals. Build and maintain strong working relationships with both existing and prospective customers. Respond promptly and efficiently to customer enquiries, ensuring service levels are met or exceeded. Offer technical guidance and resolve design-related queries or complaints in a proactive manner. Supply production teams with accurate and complete manufacturing information.

Skills & Experience Required:



Proven experience as a Truss Designer within the engineered timber or construction industry. Proficient in using MiTek software (MBA suite and Pamir) or similar truss design packages. Strong attention to detail and a methodical, "right first time" approach to work. Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across teams and with clients. Comfortable working independently or collaboratively to meet deadlines and performance targets. Organised, results-driven, and committed to continuous improvement. Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and general IT tools. Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
