Cambridge, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on designer or engineer to join the Plasticity Lab, a world-leading neuroscience research team investigating how we can use technology to increase hand functionality in able and disabled individuals of all ages. Working closely with Dani Clode - the Lab's Senior Technical Specialist and the creator of the Third Thumb, the post holder will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining a range of cutting-edge experimental devices - including wearable robotic augmentation systems, vibrotactile feedback tools, and MRI-compatible equipment.

This role blends creative design with technical precision, contributing directly to innovative research at the intersection of neuroscience, robotics, and human augmentation. Ideal for someone with experience in 3D modelling, prototyping, and mechanical assembly and an enthusiasm for working with and understanding the human body. This position offers the chance to be part of a dynamic, cross-disciplinary team pushing the boundaries of human capability. Start date is flexible, ideally around August/Sep 2025.
