Position Brief
A Designer is a key member of a Design and Project Teams responsible developing and producing project design covering all products included in external building envelope systems including windows, doors, curtain walling, cladding, SFS, glazing, fire stopping, pressed and architectural metalwork.
You will be responsible for developing detailed design solutions from concept through to construction, working closely with clients, architects, consultants, and internal teams across design, commercial, manufacturing, and site operations.
The role will involve producing accurate detailed facade design drawings, in line with architectural concept drawings, project and material specifications, Building Regulations, Building Control or Building Safety Regulator requirements, relevant British or European Standards, Building Warranty Provider guidelines and the production of material fabrication drawings /schedules for ordering / fabrication.
The successful candidate will possess the following:
Key Responsibilities
Reviewing project contract documentation related to design and collaborating with estimating, commercial and project management teams to ensure full clarity on scope or work, specifications, design attendances and deliverables.
Preparing technical submittals and support compliance documentation, to satisfy Project Specifications, Building Regulations, requirements from Building Safety Regulator or Building Control, Building Warranty Provider and other regulatory bodies applicable to the type of designed product or project. Monitoring compliance of produced design with abovementioned documents.
Developing detailed 2D facade design drawings and 3D models for a range of facade systems including curtain walling, windows and doors, cladding, SFS, glazing, architectural metalwork, and bespoke pressed metal features.
Producing full technological and installation design packages including GA drawings, interface details, setting out drawings, fixing details and material specifications ensuring design integration of all necessary system components, fulfilling required system performance and achieving buildability.
Producing fabrication drawings and procurement schedules for key materials in readiness for internal manufacture or external procurement.
Coordinating design production with project and site managers, quantity surveyors, procurement, and factory teams, to ensure seamless integration between design, manufacturing, and installation.
Collaborating with clients, architects, structural engineers, and other consultants to achieve design approvals, coordinate technical requirements and interfaces between various products, systems and packages, resolve design challenges, and incorporate aesthetic, performance, and buildability considerations.
Attending design and technical meetings (internal and external), recording minutes, actions and updating design planning in line with feedback, comments, and evolving project requirements.
Providing technical support during installation phase, resolving site queries, issuing as-built drawings, and attending site inspections or coordination meetings when required either on-line or in person (if requested by company).
Keep accurate records of design development, including document revision control, approval logs, RFIs, Technical Submittals and commentary tracking from the design team, consultants, main contractor and client.
Key Requirements
Essential:
Degree or UK recognised qualification in Architecture, Engineering, Facade Engineering, or a related field.
Proven and checkable Experience in facade design or a related discipline (cladding, glazing, rainscreen, curtain wall, etc.) working on UK based projects.
Proficiency in AutoCAD
Knowledge of UK Building Regulations and relevant facade performance standards.
Good understanding of technological design techniques, system specifications, and construction methods
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Solid self-management and time management skills and ability to work pre-defined deadlines
Desirable:
Knowledge of thermal, acoustic, and fire performance in facade design.
Working knowledge of 3D modelling software (e.g., Revit, SolidWorks, Inventor).
BIM experience.

Starting salary from 40,000.00 depending on experience
Remote working for majority of time including provision of IT equipment and software for remote working
