The primary function of the Desk-Based Account Manager is to proactively contact existing and prospective business customers, build strong professional relationships, and grow revenue by cross-selling and upselling telecommunications products and services. The role is office-based and focused on managing accounts remotely via phone, email, and digital channels.
Key Responsibilities
Proactively contact business customers to build rapport, understand their needs, and develop long-term relationships
Manage and grow a portfolio of small to medium-sized business accounts
Cross-sell and upsell a range of telecommunications products, including mobile, broadband, connectivity, and value-added services
Identify new sales opportunities within existing accounts and follow up on leads
Conduct needs analysis and provide tailored product recommendations
Negotiate pricing and contract terms in line with company guidelines
Achieve and exceed individual sales and revenue targets
Maintain accurate customer records and sales activity using CRM systems
Handle account queries and liaise with internal teams to resolve issues efficiently
Stay up to date with telecommunications products, market trends, and competitor activity
Skills & Experience
Essential
Proven experience in a sales, account management, or customer-facing role
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Confidence in engaging business customers over the phone
Ability to identify opportunities and cross-sell products effectively
Target-driven mindset with a focus on results
Strong organisational and time-management skills
IT literate with experience using CRM systems
Desirable
Experience within telecommunications, technology, or B2B sales
Understanding of mobile, connectivity, or broadband solutions
