The Desk-Based Solutions Architect ensures customers' network infrastructures are optimally designed, developed, and maintained in a rapidly changing environment. Acting as a trusted advisor, the role involves engaging with customers to understand requirements, producing accurate designs, proposals, and cost models, and supporting bid processes. It includes creating high-level documentation, handing over projects to delivery teams, and assisting on large bids. The position underpins critical communication strategies for public sector and service provider clients, contributing to complex, secure data and voice networks that enable connectivity for millions across the UK.
Job Responsibilities
Speaking to MLL customers and potential customers on the phone/Teams to understand requirements and agree the right design.
Building relationships to become a trusted advisor and point of contact.
Producing accurate BoM and solution cost models.
Specifying and costing all of the required elements to deliver a successful solution.
Producing bid content.
Writing content for proposals or bids.
Producing High Level Design documentation.
Documenting solutions sold for customer sign-off and handover into delivery.
Handing over projects into MLL delivery teams, including working with the teams to deal with any changes required post-sale.
Aiding the wider solutions team.
Helping on large bids, such as gathering pricing, helping with availability checks or writing some bid content.
Your knowledge and expertise
Able to build relationships as a trusted advisor both internally and externally.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to design effective, scalable, and secure integration solutions.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to prioritise tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Technical understanding of WAN technologies: WAN circuits, including Fibre Ethernet, Broadband, Mobile and Satellite.
Routing, Switching and Wi-Fi (ideally CCNA or Fortinet NSE3 level or equivalent).
Security concepts.
Basic knowledge of Cloud technologies and platforms.
Benefit and cost analysis of different technologies.
Experience in customer engagements, design workshops, and requirements gathering activities.
