Despatch Operative

Location: Armagh

Hours: 7.00 or 7.30am - 5.30pm Monday to Friday

Connexus UK is delighted to be recruiting for a Despatch Operative on behalf of our client, a leading meat wholesaler and exporter business based in the Armagh area. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established company and will essentially involve the palletising of vacuum packed, boxed fresh meat and the loading of vehicles for despatch.

Key Responsibilities:

Order Fulfilment:

Accurately picking and assembling customer orders of meat products.

Material Handling:

Safely operating equipment such as forklifts, hand pallet truck and RF scanners to move and track products.

Loading:

Loading containers and ensuring pallets are scanned, checked, and accompanied by correct documentation prior to dispatch

Quality & Safety:

Carrying out quality checks and maintaining strict hygiene and food safety standards within the dispatch area. Working to a strict "clean as you go" policy to ensure the despatch area remains clean and tidy at all times

Documentation:

Completing necessary paperwork to ensure compliance, traceability, and efficient tracking of products.

Team Coordination:

Working closely with production and logistics teams to ensure daily targets and deadlines are met and assisting with associated duties in other departments when required.

Work Environment:

Fast-Paced:

Operatives work to strict deadlines to meet customer needs.

Chilled Environment:

The role involves working in refrigerated areas.

Health & Safety:

A strong focus on food safety and workplace safety standards is essential.

Essential Skills & Traits:

Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in picking, packing, and documentation. Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-moving environment. Reliability and commitment to achieving deadlines and high-quality standards. Live within a reasonable commute of Armagh, Portadown, Dungannon or Newry

Desirable:

Previous experience in a dispatch, warehouse, or food manufacturing role. Valid forklift licence or experience with material handling equipment.
