The Development Chef will be responsible for designing, testing, and documenting recipes for one or more new delivery-only brands. This includes balancing creativity with cost control, ensuring consistency in taste and presentation, and producing recipes that can be executed by kitchen staff.
Key Responsibilities
Create and develop
original recipes and menus
aligned with the brand concept.
Conduct
testing and tasting sessions
, refining recipes based on feedback.
Produce
detailed recipe documentation
(ingredient lists, step-by-step methods, costing sheets, allergen information).
Work with the founder and wider team (chefs, tasters, branding/marketing, investors) to ensure recipes are commercially viable.
Optimise dishes for
speed of preparation and consistency
in a cloud kitchen environment.
Collaborate on
supplier sourcing and ingredient costings
.
Ensure food safety, hygiene, and compliance standards are met.
Essential Requirements
Proven experience as a Development Chef, Head Chef, or Senior Chef de Partie with menu creation experience.
Strong understanding of
cloud kitchen
and ability to adapt.
Creativity paired with
commercial awareness

Strong organisational skills with ability to deliver
recipes on time and to specification

Excellent written skills for recipe documentation.
Understanding of allergens, dietary requirements, and HACCP standards.
Desirable
Previous experience in

Experience presenting to or working with investors.
Knowledge of current food trends and delivery platform dynamics.
