This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to work with Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust's Digital Development and Integration Team.The Integration development Team consists of technical staff specialising in support, security, maintenance, development or management of the Trusts integration architecture and associated platforms.The Development Specialist is a key member of the development team, the post is responsible for operational maintenance of the Trusts systems integration platforms, supporting and developing the Trust's enterprise interface architecture, enabling the Trust to govern its own interface or flexibly incorporate changes in the application portfolio. Priorities are the prevention of clinical risk and the support of a positive user experience by thorough, high-quality systems integration or developmentThis is a hybrid role with a split of 2 day in the office at Bedford and 3 days at home.Interviews will take place face to face at our offices in Bedford.Main duties of the jobThe role

  • Develop and maintain in-depth specialist knowledge of the relevant programming languages and methodologies as appropriate to deliver the Trust strategy
  • Design, development, coding, debugging and operational support for trust messaging platforms
  • Responsible for interface specification development and the review of vendor specifications in line with objectives or business requirements
  • Proactively identify risks and issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality
About youWe're looking for someone with strong integration, development, organisational and communication skills, as well as excellent attention to detail. You'll have experience of IT within Healthcare or in a large IT department with a large system portfolio,This is a very team-focused environment, so you'll need to be adaptable and enjoy team work too. High levels of personal resilience is a must as this is a very fast paced and at times challenging environment.   • Develop/design policies, protocols and able to analyse, interpret complex data and report in a variety of different styles.

  • Knowledge of and understanding of the concepts of healthcare systems integration, including messaging standards such as HL7, XML, JSON and HL7 FIHR
  • Knowledge & Experience working in an ITIL environment
ExperienceEssential
  • Experience of working and liaising with Third Party Suppliers
  • Experience of working in a large organisation with a wide range of staffing levels and being able to liaise with level from Administrative Staff to Senior Managers.
  • Strong experience of systems integration, messaging standards, and development across a mixed computing environment
  • Experience of working with a range of staffing groups including clinicians, nursing and managers.

  • Experience of working within an NHS IT Department environment.
