Join a Fast-Growing Aerospace Company in a Hands-On Engineering Role!
Who We Are
Located in Frome, Somerset, Certo Aerospace is a cutting-edge R&D company that designs, builds, and operates large liquid-fuelled drones for use in both military and civilian sectors. Alongside our R&D activities, we undertake large-scale demonstrations for military customers in the UK and USA.
The Role: Development Technician
Ideal for practically minded individuals with a passion for engineering or aviation.
We're looking for a highly motivated and hands-on individual to join our Workshop and Flight Test Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain real-world experience in aerospace engineering--even if you don't have formal qualifications. If you're eager to learn, ready to get stuck in, and thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment, we want to hear from you.
What You'll Do
As part of a small, dynamic team, you'll play a key role in assembling and maintaining prototype aircraft. You'll work closely with experienced engineers, learning how to build entire aircraft from detailed engineering documents while developing a broad range of technical skills. Your responsibilities will grow as your experience increases.
You'll also support weekly off-site flight testing. Once trained, you'll help perform pre-test inspections, maintain and prepare test equipment, and ensure safety procedures are followed on-site.
You'll receive on-the-job training as necessary in areas such as:
Mechanical assembly
Basic fabrication (grinding, welding, sheet metal work)
Working with composite materials
Electrical and systems integration
Testing and quality assurance
What We're Looking For
While previous experience in engineering or fabrication is desirable, it's not essential. More important is a strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and a safety-first approach. You should be comfortable working with tools, willing to take initiative, and physically capable of handling demanding tasks in a hands-on role.
This is a unique opportunity to grow within a cutting-edge aerospace environment, where adaptability, attention to detail, and teamwork are valued above all.
