To develop the growth of SUBU's social media platforms by increasing reach and engagement with students at Bournemouth University. With a passion for creativity and innovation, you will lead on creating and sharing a mix of engaging content. You'll work with a team of student content creators to capture, edit and share relevant and effective content through videos and vlogs, funny and inspiring content, impactful photography and addictive TikTok videos. You should be confident appearing on camera when creating this content. You will be responsible for keeping up to date with the rapidly changing tastes and trends of students and flex accordingly whilst monitoring the effectiveness of our messaging. You will lead our digital communications, including SUBU's social media channels, email marketing and news stories, to ensure that projects run by our Full-Time Officers and other SUBU departments are as successful as possible. You'll show initiative and the ability to think creatively and implementing all digital content from start to finish. You will produce exciting and engaging copy for communications channels such as our regular student emails, news stories and website. Key Tasks
Track jobs and maintain schedules of digital campaigns and posts that SUBU shares across social media and via email. Use appropriate tools to schedule posts and monitor their performance on a regular basis.
Ideating, capturing, editing and delivering communications for relevant SUBU communications projects. Liaise with the Marketing Manager, Designer, student content creators, and our student-led media outlets (Nerve), Full-Time Officers and SUBU departments to create content with the appropriate tone, detail and potential to generate engagement. Feeding back on external work when required.
Attend regular meetings with Bournemouth University's social media team, Full-Time Officers and other SUBU departments when required to provide advice and share information on digital communications. Attend regular Communications Team briefings and one-to-one meetings with Head of Marketing & Communications.
Carry out performance analysis of all digital communications channels and advise the Communications team of which channels to use and how best to use each one.
Provide and support opportunities for student involvement in content creation within the Students' Union. You will play a key role in the recruitment of student content creators and will lead on creating briefs for content capture.
Supporting and advising staff, students and officers on best practice for generating effective digital communications in line with SUBU Communications Strategy. Deliver training to internal staff and students around best practise on ensuring brand guidelines are adhered to through digital communication channels, such as social media and email marketing content.
Provide ongoing support to our student-led media outlets in Radio, TV, Photography, Online and Sport. Communicating any opportunities for students to capture content and advise on upcoming events through the Students' Union.
With support from the Head of Marketing & Communications, agree key performance figures to monitor and publish on a regular basis, what level of moderation is required and plan online response to comments. Monitoring comments on social media and replying to enquiries.
Participate in Communications & Marketing team planning and work on updating the SUBU Communications Strategy to ensure the tone and portfolio of digital communications is maximising engagement.
Create and grow email databases and manage social media channels to ensure they remain closely focused on the appropriate membership segments.
Responsible for the orderly storage of images and audio-visual assets.
Email, diary management as required. Keep ticketing system up to date, keep records of campaign content and archive of past work.
Assist with the organisation and administration of the larger Union events such as Freshers', Summer Ball, Student Awards, Elections.
To operate within the Union's ethical and environmental parameters for all purchasing and communication decisions and reflect this in the work for other departments.

Person Specification
Graduate level qualification or equivalent with a marketing or communications element.
One years' experience working in a marketing and communications environment.
Experience and success in generating reach through the use of social media.
Experience of working within a student or similar membership engagement organisation.
Thorough understanding of the business use of social media.
