Job Description


The Digital Editor (Research) supports the planning, development and delivery of online research publications for Tate. You will join a small team committed to furthering the reach, range and accessibility of research at Tate. As well as editing texts for publication and digital production, you will contribute to sharing and expanding the research profile of the museum through its digital platforms.

Tate is a pioneer of open-access publishing and has established channels of online publication, ranging from long-form research articles published in Tate Papers and In Focus studies, to short art-historical summaries of works in the collection that are published on the artwork pages of Tate\'s website.

The successful candidate will contribute to the planning and dissemination of online research, ensuring accuracy, fluency of expression and correct presentation, in line with Tate Style. They will be responsible for managing the department\'s digital communications (including newsletters, e-mail lists, and social media accounts) and for publishing materials on Tate\'s website using a web-based content management system. In addition, they will liaise closely with colleagues in Tate Digital and Information Systems to review audience analytics and use them to inform methods and schedules for promoting Tate\'s digital research publications.

We are looking for someone committed to expanding access to Tate\'s art and research through digital communication. You will bring proven skills in academic editing and a critical approach to reviewing research texts for inclusive language and accessibility. You will be motivated to learn about new technologies and have a broad understanding of how to work with content across a range of digital platforms, including web-based publishing and social media. In addition, you will be familiar with web-based content management systems for online publication and have experience of basic digital image editing, preferably with Photoshop.

This position is offered on a fixed-term contract until July 2024.
