Salary:
The starting salary is 43,294, which includes allowances totalling 2,928.
The salary is broken down as 40,366 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale 42,071 Plus, a location allowance of 1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of 1,000.

Job Summary:
As a Digital Learning Designer, you will lead the design and development of engaging, modern e-learning experiences across the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS). Using tools like Articulate 360 and Vyond, you will create impactful, learner-centred digital content that supports operational training and professional development.
You will be a key contributor within Learning Solutions, with primary responsibility for e-learning across the Leadership Academy, while also supporting learning design across varied operational areas--including specialist crime, officer safety, first aid, diversity and inclusion, and core policing content.
You will collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), policy leads, operational stakeholders and technical teams to design digital learning that is effective, accessible, and aligned with organisational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Design digital-first, accessible learning content using Articulate 360 (Rise and Storyline) and Vyond.
Lead the design of digital learning products within the Leadership Academy, ensuring alignment to leadership pathways and role development.
Support content development across a wide range of policing domains, including crime, first aid, community policing, and diversity.
Translate complex operational and policy information into clear, interactive, and engaging learning experiences.
Ensure SCORM compliance and seamless integration with the Met's LMS (e.g., Cornerstone OnDemand), including tagging for reporting and learner analytics.
Maintain and update existing digital assets to reflect current practice, legislation, and user feedback.
Design and write digital assessments, including multiple-choice and formative assessment tools in line with College of Policing standards.
Provide advice and quality assurance on accessibility, structure, and format in both internally developed and externally procured learning materials.
Keep up to date with developments in digital learning design, accessibility, and learner engagement trends.
Skills:
Strong writing, editing, and instructional design skills.
Visual and motion design for digital content (e.g., using Vyond, Canva, Adobe Suite).
Problem-solving and solution-focused approach to learning challenges.
Collaborative team player able to engage with a range of stakeholders.
Quality assurance and user testing of digital content.
Ability to work across multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment.

Essential For The Role
Essential Experience and Knowledge:
Demonstrated experience designing high-quality digital learning for large-scale or public sector organisations.
Proficient in Articulate 360 (Rise and Storyline) and Vyond.
Strong knowledge of SCORM standards, LMS integration, and accessibility requirements.
Experienced in developing blended and digital-first learning including animations, microlearning, self-directed e-learning, and virtual delivery.
Familiarity with instructional design frameworks such as ADDIE, SAM, or equivalent.
Experience working with SMEs, policy teams, and delivery teams to produce learning that is accurate, engaging, and relevant.
Desirable Criteria:
Learning and Development or Instructional Design qualification (e.g. CIPD Level 4+, or equivalent).
Experience in examination and assessment design, including MCQs and digital assessment platforms.
Understanding of the training needs across police and public safety environments.
Awareness of innovations in digital learning such as AI, immersive learning, or personalised content delivery.
