Do you want to impact our strategy for sustainable infrastructure
? Can you
lead on project delivery? Are you an experienced leader in the Bridge sector? Then, shape a sustainable and liveable world with us.
Create Solutions that will enable a better tomorrow
To assist in the growth and add technical expertise to our Bridge department, we are looking for an experienced Director to join us. Working on project deliver and market growth, you'll work with our senior leadership team to deliver a portfolio of projects and drive business development.
Your key responsibilities will be:
To lead project work within bridge and structural engineering, as part of COWI's UK & Ireland leadership team.
Overseeing the delivery of a portfolio of bridge and major infrastructure projects, supporting our Project Managers as the senior point of contact for customers on your projects, and collaborating globally with others across the COWI Group to deliver our projects.
Commercial performance of your projects, working closely with our Technical Directors to ensure our engineering solutions meet and exceed our customers' expectations.
Driving business development in your sector. Working closely with our Senior Market Director and Market Director (Transportation), you'll build and maintain client relationships, lead on preparation of proposals, and use your demonstrable technical and delivery expertise to win work.
Working with the UK's Head of Discipline and Market Director to deliver business growth within your sector, helping to ensure we have the right skills and people in the business to stay ahead of developments in the profession and to deliver our pipeline of future projects.
To support our Senior Technical Director by providing and developing thought leadership within bridge and structural engineering, maintaining and strengthening our profile.
Contribute significantly to the financial performance of the business, ensuring sector budgets for revenue, profit and growth are met, projects are well-managed, and month-end processes are accurate.
Your skills. Our team. Together we design the future.
The first step to success in this role is that you are eager to collaborate with the people around you, whether they are colleagues, partners, or customers. Developing ties with others is something you do by acting respectfully and delivering on your promises. And you never get set in your ways but keep exploring new insights and ways to improve.
On top of that, you'll have:
A Bachelor's or master's level degree in civil or structural engineering.
Achieved Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with either ICE or IStructE.
Be recognised externally through your wider involvement within the engineering profession with a strong network across contractors, consultants and clients.
A demonstrable track record of leading the design and delivery of complex bridge engineering and major infrastructure projects both in the UK and internationally.
Exceptional leader skills: someone with excellent communication and inter-personal skills and a strong business acumen, who will thrive on inspiring, mentoring and developing others.
Be confident providing leadership to engineering delivery teams with a strong drive, personal resilience and commitment to technical excellence, innovation and sustainability.
Have a strong understanding of construction and be comfortable working closely with contractors and clients to select and develop optimum design solutions that can be constructed safely and efficiently.
Have experience of all project stages from concept design through to construction support, but with notable delivery experience in a design and build environment.
