Information Services Division (ISD) is the primary provider of IT services to UCL. We support and enhance learning, teaching, research and administrative processes by providing information- and technology-related services to over 50,000 staff and students of UCL and associated institutions.
Our ambition is to be the leading IT services group in the Higher Education (HE) sector and we are growing our team's capability in experience/UX, agile development, security, cloud, service management and partnering. We are modernising our technology foundations, digitising the processes of the university to transform experience for students and staff, and partnering across the university to drive differentiation in UCL education and research.
About the role

Our Digital Education provides a wide range of services to UCL students, staff, and learners around the world, spanning platforms and support, learning experience design and content production, digital accessibility, horizon scanning, and digital skills development.
This leadership role drives the department's strategic direction, shaping responsive, scalable, and sustainable digital learning experiences that meet the evolving needs of a world-class institution.
The post holder plays a critical role in advancing integration of learning technologies, data-driven practices, and inclusive design across physical and digital learning spaces, underpinned by strong relationships and effective governance, planning, and resource stewardship. They furthermore identify opportunities for innovation, delivering change which supports educational excellence, fosters high value partnerships, and unlocks potential for UCL.
About you

To considered for this role candidates will need to have qualifications, experience and knowledge in the following:
Educated to degree standard or equivalent, or having acquired relevant experience.
Leader of large and specialist Digital Education teams (>50 staff), and managing and motivating staff to deliver sector-leading services and support.
Significant experience of leading large digital transformational projects to deliver new educational platforms, processes and services.
Significant experience of working in an Agile product development environment.
Experience of managing and prioritising spend within large development budgets.
Experience of managing relationships with external suppliers or partners to deliver projects or university services.
Experience of leading the development and delivery of high quality digital and online learning across a variety of course, audience, and disciplinary contexts, including degree programmes and short courses.
Experience of securing contracts with external organisations, government, or industry partners.
Experience of working within a HE or similar education environment.
