Woodpecker Flooring Finance Director

Introduction

As a member of the Board this is a senior and strategic role with responsibility for the finances of a significant wood flooring company.

The role is for an experienced and credible finance director that has the gravitas to inspire confidence in funders, collaborators and other stakeholders.

We have a young but capable Financial Controller, who needs support and guidance. The company requires this role to provide strategic overview, ensuring that the whole company strategy delivers on the forecasts, identifies any threats from proposed strategic decisions that could impact.

You will expected to have an overall understanding of all aspects of the business from day to day financial control to cash flow management, forecasting and strategic planning.

It will be vital that you can communicate effectively with the senior management team, empathise with their points of view and help them understand the financial implications of their decisions.

With offices in Caerphilly, you will be out going and able to work with different stakeholders.

Attributes and Requirements

Strategic

To develop our Financial Controller to lead the development of the organisation's financial strategy.

Produce models and forecasts and train the team to use them to assess the long term financial trends and consider various scenarios around future income and new products and channels, based on management information

Provide financial support to senior management to help the company achieve its short and long term objectives including ultimate enterprise value

Provide professional financial experience to develop the skills and confidence of the finance team by reviewing reports and analyse projections of sales, income and margin performance against actual figures and suggest methods of improving the planning process

Lead the project to determine the optimal corporate structure with regards to balancing risk and tax considerations to align with shareholders needs

Financial control and reporting

Evaluate and improve internal controls, accounting policies and procedures and monitor compliance in order to protect the assets of the group in a high growth environment

Report relevant financial data effectively and at the right time

Experienced in working in different jurisdictions and dealing with their regulatory and reporting requirements

Ensuring that crucial projects are evaluated, budgeted, controlled and managed. These include current and prospective projects include CAPEX and ERP Implementation.

Financial management

All round sound knowledge of basic financial management including financial accounting, management accounting, compliance and taxation

Proactively coach and mentor our financial controller in the management of cash, keep the Board informed of cash availability and funding needs and identify treasury solutions, as necessary

Experienced in working with budgets and processes to control costs and support management decisions across the group

Ensure the organisation receives value for money from its contracts with suppliers

Interpersonal

Confident in listening, understanding and explaining

Able to effectively present and explain data to the team, the Board, funders and other stakeholders (including banks, auditors , insurance advisors)

Form a strong working relationship with the CEO and MD

Able to empathise and to appreciate alternative points of view and to educate and contribute, in a supportive way, to decisions that achieve organisational goals

Able to develop individuals and teams using various techniques including mentoring and training

Able to communicate and share values effectively with teams in different locations

Know when to seek management and/or specialist views and advice before acting

Prerequisites/Essential requirements

Holds a recognised CCAB accountancy qualification or equivalent

Worked in a senior financial role (FD or senior financial controller) for at least 3 years requiring hands-on involvement

Worked with SMEs with a Board containing non-execs and/or external investors or their representatives

Experience of working with overseas businesses (parent/subsidiary/related)

Used Excel regularly

Prepared to travel internationally on occasion

Familiar with Sage Line 50 (or similar) accounting software

Preferable but not essential

Experience of growing a business from 15m - 50m

Experience of working with businesses in the buy sell model, supplying retailers, builders merchants

Worked in an high growth organisation

Worked in a business that has raised equity (institutions/private equity/markets)

Previous responsibility for the HR function

Prepared a business to become investment ready for either PE or Inter Industry Sale

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 85,335.00-88,031.00 per year

Expected hours: 8 - 16 per week
