We are seeking a Director of IT to lead Chemifys IT Operations and Security Operations.

This is a broad, high-impact role covering Business Applications, Governance & Compliance, Networking, Cloud Operations, Helpdesk, Asset Management, and Information Security.



Youll be working in a rapidly growing, cross-functional company with expertise across software, hardware, AI research, chemistry, and operations. We are in startup mode and value clarity, empathy, and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Lead all aspects of IT Operations: Business Apps, end-user computing, networking, asset management, and Helpdesk. Oversee and grow Information Security & Security Operations teams, including access management, incident response, vulnerability management, and security tooling. Own Governance, Compliance & Audit activities, lead our roadmap towards ISO 27001 & SOC 2 certification. Drive change management and introduce scalable, lightweight processes that are stage appropriate and support a rapidly growing organisation. Manage IT budgets, vendor relationships, and cost optimisation across infrastructure and SaaS. Build, mentor, and develop a small IT team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

What Youll Bring

BSc or equivalent experience, preferably in an IT-related field. 10+ years commercial IT experience, including 3+ years in a Director-level or senior leadership role. Broad experience across IT Operations, Security Operations, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), networking, identity & access management, and endpoint management (MDM). Strong grounding in governance, compliance, and audit frameworks. Proven experience in rapidly scaling startup or scale-up environments. Expertise in Microsoft ecosystem (M365, Intune, Endpoint, Entra). Experience managing mixed fleet (Windows, Mac, Linux, Android). Natural communicator able to influence at all levels of the organisation. Strong Project and change management experience. High EQ: bring compassion and technical acumen to the team, we are cross-functional by design, and everyone is a natural team player who can improve best practises.

Beneficial Skills

Interest or background in chemistry, manufacturing, robotics, or lab environments. Previous experience with office or lab fit out projects. Previous experience collaborating with software and hardware development teams. Experience with life sciences, R&D, or manufacturing IT domains. * Familiarity with automation/scripting (Python, PowerShell), ITIL practices, or modern security frameworks (NIST, Zero Trust).
