Job Description

This role is based in the UK and will be working on site in our UK based College.

In order to comply with our mandatory pre-employment checks, the successful candidate will be required to provide original identification documents in person to our UK based People Services Department.

PROTECTION OF CHILDREN & YOUNG PERSONS (THE CHILDREN'S ACT 1989)



Any offers of appointment will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (formerly CRB), a certificate of good conduct if applicable, plus receipt of satisfactory references, Occupational Health clearance, an understanding of safeguarding and qualifications verification. An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position as you will be working within 'Regulated Activity' within a specific place (i.e. the College).

This role is classed as working within Regulated Activity. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children. By applying for this position, you agree to an Enhanced DBS check in line with DBS regulations.

ROLE SUMMARY



This newly created role will provide group-wide strategic leadership of safeguarding, PREVENT and security as the Designated Safeguarding Lead and Group PREVENT Lead. Working with staff at all levels, the post holder will create a whole-college safeguarding culture; will ensure robust children-missing-education (CME) practice; review and develop a proportionate, risk-led security approach; and exemplary PREVENT arrangements. They will lead on the completion and follow-through of Local Authority Section 175 audits across all campuses, converting findings into a single, monitored action plan.

The post holder will report to the Chief Operating Officer and will manage a team of campus based Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads.

LEAVE ENTITLEMENT



The College offers a generous leave entitlement of 48 days leave (includes 35 days leave, 8 statutoryBank Holidays, 4 College closure days at Christmas and an annual Relaxed Day) pro rata for part time.

HOURS OF WORK



The post holder will be expected to work such hours as are necessary for the proper performance of their duties and responsibilities, normally 37 hours per week.

PLACE OF WORK



The principal place of work will be the Leamington Spa Campus. However, the post holder may be required to work on either a temporary or an indefinite basis at any premises at which we may provide services.

Essential Attainments:



Educated to Level 3 or 4

Desirable Attainments:



Qualification in management Security/risk leadership in education or public-realm environments.

Essential Skills and Knowledge:



Experience as a Manager in Education working with students. Senior DSL experience across multi-site FE education settings including PREVENT leadership and LADO/channel casework. Current DSL with safer recruitment training; strong multi-agency networks. Incident command skills and excellent use of data to drive decisions. Experience in the management and delivery of a range of levels and awarding bodies. Industry experience in one of the relevant sectors. Clear understanding of relevant sector Industry needs and strategies to meet skills required. Experience of performance and impact management of teams. Ability to demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of Equality and Diversity. Ability to demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults. Ability to demonstrate behaviours, which support the Core Values of the College.
