Director of Safety

National role with regular travel and hybrid working

Permanent, full time (37.5 hpw)

Circa \xc2\xa3120,000 per annum (negotiable based on experience), plus car allowance of \xc2\xa35484 per annum and great benefits including Health Cash Plan

We are looking for an incredible safety leader who can super charge performance and lead our strategic approach to asset safety, statutory compliance and corporate health and safety across our national property assets and operations.

As Duty Holder and Principle Accountable Person, you\xe2\x80\x99ll drive a culture of safety and compliance that enables our strategy and customer promise, driving performance against statutory, regulatory and legal requirements. You\xe2\x80\x99ll lead our teams in ensuring that our buildings are well maintained, we provide a safe place to live for our customers and we keep our colleagues safe.

Key priorities as Director of Safety

  • Providing strong, clear and expert safety leadership promoting a culture of performance, transparency and excellence - casting a positive shadow.
  • As a key member of our senior leadership team, influencing and supporting the development of safe environments for colleagues to operate competently in and for customers to be cared for within a regulated setting.
  • Developing a robust safety strategy and compliance plan, guiding our Board, Executive and Senior Management teams on the direction and strategy for safety with clear recommendations and business plans in place.
  • Leading and motivating supercharged teams to deliver on key objectives for our building safety programme, statutory compliance programme and health and safety safe working practices with a laser sharp focus.
  • Building strong networks internally, and externally to maximise and leverage relationships to deliver on strategic outcomes.
  • Leading building risk assessments, safety case reports and registrations with our regulators.
  • Ensuring a well governed function with transparent, objective and dynamic decision making, along with robust reporting and evaluation.

You bring
  • CIOB Level 6 Diploma in Building Safety Management or equivalent, with expertise gained through significant experience.
  • Relevant degree and/or professional health, safety and fire qualification such as NEBOSH, NCRQ with extensive knowledge of legislative, regulatory and governance requirements across asset management and corporate health and safety.
  • Extensive experience of leading landlord and employer statutory and regulatory compliance. You have embedded safety strategies across a complex multi-site organisation achieving challenging business plan targets and KPI\'s.
  • Experience of working in a person centre regulatory environment (such as CQC registered services).
  • Outstanding leadership skills and strategic thinker, able to engage, influence and transform to drive safety compliance and lead significant change.
  • Excellent people manager, able to inspire, influence and embed a motivating performance culture.
  • You\xe2\x80\x99ll bring creative spark, be a great influencer, able to unleash the potential of others and know how the world works and our place in it.

Job details
  • Full time, 37.5 hpw, flexible working hours (we\xe2\x80\x99re open to agreeing a work pattern with you). If you need to nip out to walk the dog or do the school run, we\xe2\x80\x99re ok with that too!
  • Hybrid working (based from any of our national offices) with regular travel including to the North-East where our new, state of the art, Head Office is based and also working from home.
  • A full current driving licence as you\xe2\x80\x99ll work and travel on a national basis and will be provided with a car allowance as part of your remuneration package to do that.
