In HR Advisory Government and Public Sector (GPS), you will be joining a rapidly growing part of the business that partners with our clients to help them with HR Transformation. This could be building a new people and workforce strategy, employee brand, employee value proposition, reward model, implementing a new HR operating model, redesigning end to end talent processes, development and capability pathways and helping organisations navigate the intersection between automation and human skills.

As a HR Advisory GPS Director or Associate Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of our Health & Social Care HR Advisory team. You will be a key advisor to senior clients, leading complex engagements, and developing innovative solutions to address their most pressing HR challenges. This role requires a deep understanding of the Health & Social Care sector landscape, including its unique regulatory environment and workforce dynamics . At times you may also be asked to support other sectors across GPS, therefore a broader understanding or experience working in UK GPS would be beneficial.
Types of responsibilities can include, but are not limited to:

  • Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the Health & Social Care sector. Lead proposal development, client presentations, and relationship management with senior stakeholders. Actively contribute to the growth of the practice by identifying and delivering sales opportunities.
  • Client Engagement: Manage complex client engagements, delivering projects, overseeing budget, and risk. Provide expert advice and thought leadership on a range of HR topics, including but not limited to :
o HR strategy and transformation
o Organisational design and change management
o Talent acquisition, development, and retention
o Compensation and benefits
o HR technology implementation (including AI solutions)
o Workforce planning and analytics
o AI and its impact on HR and people
o Compliance and regulatory issues specific to the Health sector .
Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of consultants, fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous learning. Provide guidance and support to junior team members, developing their skills and capabilities.
Thought Leadership: Contribute to the development of Deloitte's HR offerings and methodologies within the Health & Social Care sector. Develop and share thought leadership content through publications, presentations, and client engagements.
Risk Management: Be acutely aware of risk management and managing risks associated with people, process, systems, change and commercials .
Practice Leadership: Contribute to the overall growth of the HR Consulting practice, supporting commercial, operational and/or talent management processes.

We're looking for the right attitude and mindset - willingness to learn is key! Our preference is for you to have experience of working in a fast-paced consultative environment but will consider applicants from a diversity of backgrounds. Our ideal team member will be able to demonstrate:
  • Preferably extensive experience in HR consulting or a senior HR leadership role within the Health & Social Care sector, but not essential.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering large, complex HR transformation projects within the Health & Social Care sector either in another consulting firm or in-house.
  • Deep understanding of HR best practices, methodologies, and technologies relevant to the Health & Social Care sector.
  • Experience in leading and managing teams, including mentoring and developing junior staff.
  • Strong business development and client relationship management skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Experience creating high quality deliverables.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with HR technology implementation, including AI solutions, and understanding of ethical considerations and potential societal impacts of AI in HR. Ability to articulate the value proposition of AI in HR to clients.
  • Possess excellent facilitation, communication and data analysis skills and have an ability to influence others.
  • Have an ability to manage senior stakeholders effectively and manage complex and diverse client scenarios, focusing on high quality and delivery through others even in high pressured, time critical situations .
Personal independence
Regulation and controls are standard practice in our industry and Deloitte is no exception. These controls provide important legal protection for both you and the firm. We are subject to a number of audit regulations, one of which requires that certain colleagues abide by specific personal independence constraints (e.g., in relation to any financial interests and employment relationships). This can mean that you and your "Immediate Family Members" are not permitted to hold certain financial interests (shares, funds, bonds etc.) with audit clients of the firm, and also prohibitions on certain employment relationships (e.g., you are not permitted to hold a secondary employment role with SEC audit clients of the firm whilst being employed by the firm).
