The Role
As a Disability Support Worker in the classroom, you'll play a vital part in the daily lives of pupils -- helping them access learning, communicate effectively, and build confidence. You'll assist with lesson participation, implement individual learning and care plans, and support personal care routines. Your role will also involve promoting independence and creating a respectful, consistent environment where every pupil feels safe and supported.
What We're Looking For
This role is ideal for someone with a background in care, health and social care, or a similar field who is looking to transition into education. You will need:
Experience supporting individuals with PMLD, ASD or non-verbal communication needs
A relevant qualification in care, health and social care, or a related subject
A calm, compassionate approach and strong communication skills
Confidence supporting personal care with dignity and sensitivity
A team-focused attitude and a genuine commitment to inclusive education
The School
This Carlisle-based specialist school has a strong emphasis on nurturing the whole child. The staff work collaboratively to ensure every pupil receives the care, consistency and encouragement they need to thrive. The setting is well-resourced, with a thoughtful approach to both academic and personal development.
Hours
8.30?am to 3.30?pm, Monday to Friday. Open to both full-time and part-time applicants.
