Freshwell Heath Centre is rated Outstanding by the CQC and was given a 97% overall satisfaction rate by our patients in the 2025 National GP Survey. We have a growing practice population of approximately 8,200 with a 98% dispensing rate.

Our busy rural Dispensing Doctors Surgery is looking to expand our team by recruiting a Dispenser Assistant to join our forward-thinking and supportive practice working in our modernised dispensary.

As a Dispensary Assistant you will help in the dispensing of medications and provide support to the Dispensing team. This is an entry-level position that offers an opportunity to learn and develop skills in the dispensing field whilst under the guidance of our expert team and the possibility further your education by gaining recognised qualifications with Buttercups Training if appropriate.

Maintain inventory and stock medications Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the Dispensing area Provide excellent customer service to patients and answer any questions they may have regarding their medications Issue Repeat Prescriptions, manage tasks, letters, emails, telephone and face to face enquires according to Practice Procedures To assist with anything else that may be required and appropriate to maintain a high standard and efficient dispensing service on behalf of the Practice
This role requires both physical resilience and high-level problem-solving skills, you must hold a minimum of GCSE English and Maths grade 4 or higher. Excellent communication skills are a deal breaker and although experience of working with the public would be an advantage, a positive and outgoing attitude is essential as we are looking to train the success candidate in all aspects of this position.

We are offering a minimum of 35 hours per week with core hour shifts between 08:00 - 18:30 Monday - Friday working with our excellent team, 5.6 weeks annual leave (pro-rata) and NHS pension and a job share would be considered.

Successful candidates may be offered an informal visit and trial shift prior to interview.

Due to our rural location we are situated on a very poor and unreliable pubic transport route, you may need to have access to a vehicle to commute.
