Swallowfield Medical Practice is a friendly, semi-rural dispensing practice with a family feel, located in the heart of a typical English Village close to M4 Jnc 11. Our current list size is approximately 16,000 and we are growing all the time with many housing developments underway and planned for in the future. Our main surgery is in Swallowfield but we also have a purpose built (branch) site in Shinfield.

We are currently looking for a Dispensary Assistant who has an interest in a role within a Primary Care Setting. Our dispensary is currently manned by six Dispensers and we are currently open Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 6:30pm with no weekend working. We have a very friendly dispensary team and are supported by staff in the practice as a whole.

We have a position for 25-30hrs per week and we may be able to be relatively flexible about how these hours are worked over the week.

Ideal hours would be Tuesday, Thursday, Friday - 8:00-18:00

Main responsibilities

To provide efficient and accurate assistance to the Dispensary Team Answering the dispensary hatch bell. Dealing with any queries that arise (with the assistance of the dispensers). Looking up a patient on EMIS (clinical software) when required. Advising patients of ways of ordering medication. Handing out prescriptions and collecting charges where appropriate. Ensuring that the patient has the correct medication. Sorting and initialling scripts and stamping where needed. Removal and recording of uncollected items according to practice guidelines. Filing dispensed items on the shelves, using the filing system. Labelling the bag and script placing on the appropriate shelf.
