The Role
We are seeking an experienced Litigation & Dispute Resolution Secretary to support our growing practice. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys secretarial work and does not wish to progress into a fee-earning position. You will play a key role in managing complex cases, preparing legal documentation, and liaising with clients and courts. This is an opportunity to work in a hands-on role where your expertise will make a tangible impact. The successful candidate will have strong attention to detail, be highly organised, and have a good knowledge of the litigation process.
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Litigation & Dispute Resolution department in a variety of cases including, but not limited to, civil claims, contentious probate and property disputes.
Prepare legal documents including, but not limited to, briefs/instructions, pleadings, and discovery materials.
Undertake audio typing using SpeechWrite 360, ensuring accuracy and timely turnaround of documents.
Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and court officials to ensure smooth case management.
Organise and maintain case files and ensure all case deadlines are met.
Support in trial preparation including, but not limited to, preparing bundles and exhibits, organising documents, and managing logistics.
Handle monthly billing for the department, ensuring invoices are accurate and processed promptly.
Keep up to date with court procedures and filing requirements.
Essential Skills and Experience
Previous experience as a legal secretary, preferably in Litigation & Dispute Resolution.
Strong knowledge of litigation procedures and court practices.
Proficiency in case management systems; knowledge of TFB Partner for Windows/Tikit is advantageous.
Skilled in audio typing and dictation software, preferably SpeechWrite 360.
Experience in billing and financial administration within a legal setting.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively.
High attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in documentation and correspondence.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients.
Proactive and able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
