Job Description


We are seeking a dedicated Doctor's Assistant to join our esteemed faculty within the Trust, becoming an integral part of our multidisciplinary clinical team. You will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care within our hospital facilities, located across Wakefield, Dewsbury, and Pontefract. Working under the guidance of supervising consultants. you will collaborate closely with trainee clinical colleagues, providing essential support to junior doctors in delivering exceptional patient services.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the post are: To support the ward teams with clinical and administrative duties. To perform diagnostic/therapeutic procedures (subject to appropriate training and experience). These include, but not exhaustively: Venepuncture Cannulation Arterial blood gases ECG Urethral catheterisation To attend consultant/and or specialty registrar ward rounds. To support and contribute to timely discharge planning including completing discharge summaries. Telephoning external organisations (e.g. GP surgeries) and patients families to seek further information Arrange clinic appointments for patients following their discharge from hospital To work within the multi-disciplinary team to ensure effective team working in the provision of acute medical care to patients on a day to day basis.
