MFCC delivers specialist domestic abuse support services across North Powys.

DOMESTIC ABUSE CASE WORKER - REFUGE (Maternity Cover)



We have an exciting opportunity for a suitably experienced and motivated individual to work in a dedicated team, delivering a programme of specialist practical and emotional support to families in our refuges who have experienced or been affected by domestic abuse.

Closing date:

Salary:

25,350 per annum (pro-rata).

Benefits:

25 days holidays plus bank holidays (pro-rata); 5% employer pension contributions; occupational sick pay.

Hours:

24 hours over 3 days (negotiable).

Requirements:

Applicants must have experience of working with vulnerable adults/families and a minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant field, e.g. social care (or the willingness to work towards one).

An enhanced DBS check will be required for this post.

Applicants must be flexible and have access to their own vehicle, they will be part of the out of hours on-call rota.

Key Responsibilities:



Support the Refuge Manager in maintaining safe, supportive and welcoming environments within all refuge projects, building supportive, trusting, professional relationships with families to create a positive atmosphere for all.

Support the Refuge Manager in fulfilling all necessary house management responsibilities.

Main Duties:



Undertake risk assessments with all clients to identify the level of risk and to support the development of appropriate safety planning.

Assess the emotional and practical needs of clients and, in conjunction with them, devise a bespoke support plan to address the needs identified, to efficiently and effectively plan client meetings to support clients to achieve agreed goals and measurable outcomes.

Support parents to identify and address key issues relating to their children, promoting positive parenting and the welfare of children/young people.

Plan and provide practical assistance and activities which support families including educational, fun and social group sessions.

Provide practical information and assistance to clients about local specialist and generic services to widen and enhance their support networks.

Maintain accurate and confidential case management records and databases, complying with data protection legislation and respecting the safety, security and confidentiality of clients and staff and all records or information held.

Support with refuge house management responsibilities, ensuring that the refuges are maintained to the agreed standard, that resident's rooms are prepared ready for new arrivals and stock levels are maintained as necessary, adhering to individual project budgets.

Respect and value the diversity of the community, recognising the needs and concerns of a diverse range of survivors ensuring the service is accessible to all in line with MFCC Equal Opportunity and Diversity Policies observing the standard of conduct which prevents discrimination taking place.

Ensure that any safeguarding matters are dealt with in accordance with MFCC safeguarding policies and procedures.

Work within a multi-agency framework to improve responses to domestic violence and abuse, taking part in MARAC, safeguarding and associated processes, developing and maintaining good working relationships with other relevant agencies.

Support colleagues and partner agencies, through awareness raising and institutional advocacy, in order to provide the best possible service for victims & survivors of domestic abuse, i.e. challenge unhelpful or damaging attitudes to the understanding of Domestic Violence & Abuse.

Feedback client views to support the development and improvement of MFCC services.

Take responsibility for personal and professional development and growth with a willingness to undertake and complete relevant training and qualifications.

Participate in the 24 hour emergency On Call system.

Work flexibly when required, this may include, at times, weekend and evening work.

Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: 25,350.00 per year
