Job Purpose
To assist staff in the day to day running of the Care Home and to maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness and service towards service users, relatives, visitors and other members of staff.
To deliver the managers' cleaning schedule for the home, ensuring that appropriate cleaning materials are used correctly and reporting changes or concerns to the senior member of staff or nurse in charge.
Key Tasks
Report both verbally and in writing on the general condition and cleanliness of the building.
Maintain a clean and safe environment for service users and staff.
Assist other staff in maintaining standards on each shift.
Make and change beds as directed.
Assist in the collection of soiled linen and continence products for disposal as "yellow bag" waste.
Assist within the laundry
Act as chaperon for medical and professional staff as may be required.
Assist service users in maintaining their domestic hygiene in their own rooms.
Report accidents and incidents to the nurse in charge or senior member of staff on duty.
Care of Service users and the building
Assist in the care of the building.
Promote independence and dignity of service users
Assist in enabling service users to live their chosen lifestyle.
Talk to and listen to service users.
Report complaints directly to the nurse in charge as soon as they are made.
Other Duties
Undertake NVQ level 2 training in Direct Care / Hospitality if not already qualified, as may be appropriate.
Undertake such in house and external training which is appropriate to your role and has been identified through a training needs appraisal.
Maintain confidentiality of information at all times.
Work within the policies, procedures and guidelines of the Homes' Quality Management System.
Understand personal responsibilities in relation to the Health and Safety at Work Act and to demonstrate a working knowledge of COSHH assessments.
Any other such duties as may be required to ensure the safe and effective management of infections or other H&S related activity to ensure the continuity of care for service users.
