Job Description
A nursery cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals for children, ensuring high standards of hygiene and safety in the kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
Meal Preparation
: Prepare, cook, and present age-appropriate meals using fresh ingredients, following established menus and dietary requirements.Kitchen Management
: Oversee the daily management of the nursery kitchen, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and maintaining cleanliness and organization.Dietary Considerations
: Cater to individual dietary needs and preferences, including allergies and cultural requirements, and communicate these effectively with the nursery team.Collaboration
: Work closely with the nursery manager and staff to plan menus, order supplies, and ensure that all meals are served on time.Hygiene and Safety
: Maintain high standards of food hygiene and safety, including proper storage of food, cleaning of kitchen equipment, and adherence to food safety guidelines.Record Keeping
: Keep accurate records of food supplies, dietary requirements, and kitchen procedures, ensuring compliance with local health regulations. 3 SourcesQualifications and Skills
Food Safety Certification
: A valid food safety qualification is required, along with knowledge of health and safety regulations.Experience
: Previous experience in a kitchen environment, particularly in a childcare or nursery setting, is preferred.Communication Skills
: Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with nursery staff and parents regarding dietary needs and menu planning.Teamwork
: Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members to provide a supportive and nurturing environment for children.Job Type: Part-time
