To maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors by carrying out high standards of cleaning and laundry duties in line with infection control and health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:Domestic Duties:
Clean all designated areas including residents' rooms, bathrooms, communal lounges, corridors, offices, and dining areas in accordance with daily and weekly cleaning schedules.
Ensure that cleaning materials and equipment are used safely, effectively, and in line with COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations.
Replenish toiletries, hand soaps, paper towels, and other consumables as required.
Dispose of waste safely and correctly, maintaining appropriate separation between clinical and domestic waste.
Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the Housekeeping Supervisor or Duty Manager promptly.
Laundry Duties:
Collect, sort, and launder residents' personal clothing, bed linen, and towels in accordance with infection prevention and control guidelines.
Ensure that all laundry items are properly washed, dried, ironed, and returned to the correct residents in a timely manner.
Handle residents' clothing with care and respect, ensuring all items are labelled and not misplaced.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of laundry areas and equipment.
General Responsibilities:
Follow all health and safety, infection control, and safeguarding procedures.
Maintain confidentiality and respect residents' dignity and privacy at all times.
Work collaboratively with colleagues across departments to support a high standard of care delivery.
Participate in training and development to ensure compliance with current policies and best practices.
Demonstrate a caring and professional attitude when interacting with residents, families, and visitors.
Person Specification:
Essential:
Previous experience in a domestic or laundry role, preferably within a care or healthcare environment.
Awareness of infection prevention and control procedures.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good time management and attention to detail.
Respectful, reliable, and committed to maintaining high standards.
Desirable:
Knowledge of COSHH and Health & Safety regulations.
Experience working in a care home or similar setting.
