The Domiciliary Care Manager will oversee the delivery of high-quality, person-centered care for individuals in their own homes. This role involves managing a team of care staff, ensuring that care services are delivered in accordance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and individual care plans. The Domiciliary Care Manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining care services, promoting a safe and supportive environment, and ensuring continuous improvement in the delivery of care.
Key Responsibilities:1. Operational Management:
Lead and manage a team of care workers, ensuring they are appropriately trained, supervised, and supported.
Plan and schedule the care services to ensure that they are delivered in a timely and efficient manner.
Monitor staff performance and provide coaching, support, and ongoing professional development.
Conduct regular team meetings to ensure clear communication and consistency in the delivery of care.
Handle the allocation of care visits and manage any changes in care needs or scheduling.
Manage and maintain care service documentation, including care plans, risk assessments, and health & safety records.
2. Care Planning and Assessment:
Conduct initial assessments of new clients to understand their care needs and preferences.
Develop and review personalized care plans for each individual, ensuring they reflect the client's needs, wishes, and any legal requirements.
Regularly review care plans in collaboration with clients, their families, and the multidisciplinary team to ensure services remain appropriate.
Ensure that all care documentation is updated and compliant with regulatory and organizational standards.
3. Quality Assurance and Compliance:
Monitor and evaluate the quality of care provided to ensure it meets the highest standards.
Carry out regular audits, spot checks, and home visits to ensure that care plans are being followed and that service quality is maintained.
Ensure the service is compliant with relevant health and safety, regulatory, and safeguarding standards.
Investigate complaints and incidents, take appropriate action to resolve issues, and implement improvements as necessary.
Ensure the service is fully compliant with Care Quality Commission (CQC) or equivalent regulations.
4. Financial Management:
Assist in budget management for the domiciliary care service, ensuring services are delivered within budget.
Contribute to financial forecasting and ensure that financial records for services are kept up to date.
Monitor the cost-effectiveness of care delivery and recommend improvements to enhance service delivery and reduce costs where appropriate.
5. Staff Management and Development:
Recruit, train, and onboard new staff in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Foster a positive and supportive team culture, ensuring high staff morale and retention.
Ensure staff receive appropriate training in line with regulatory requirements (e.g., safeguarding, first aid, and manual handling).
Manage rotas and ensure sufficient staffing levels to meet client needs.
6. Client and Family Liaison:
Maintain regular contact with clients and their families to ensure satisfaction with the care provided.
Address any concerns or issues raised by clients or family members promptly and effectively.
Provide regular updates to clients and families regarding changes to care needs or staff schedules.
Promote the service to prospective clients, including conducting assessments and advising on available care options.
7. Marketing and Business Development:
Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners, health professionals, and stakeholders.
Support the business development efforts by identifying new opportunities and assisting with growth strategies.
Assist in the development and implementation of marketing initiatives to expand the client base.
Key Skills & Qualifications:Essential:
Proven experience as a Domiciliary Care Manager, Care Coordinator, or in a similar role in the health and social care sector.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
In-depth knowledge of CQC (or equivalent) standards and regulations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients, families, and staff.
A caring and empathetic approach, with a focus on delivering high-quality, person-centered care.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
Good IT skills and experience using care management software.
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
Desirable:
Experience in domiciliary care or homecare services.
Experience in managing budgets and financial reporting.
Knowledge of local health and social care services and resources.
First Aid and Manual Handling certifications.
Working Conditions:
Full-time role, with occasional evening or weekend shifts required to ensure client needs are met.
A flexible, on-call schedule may be required for urgent client care issues.
The role involves some travel within the local area to conduct home visits and meetings.
