The Registered Manager will have overall responsibility for the
effective, safe, and compliant delivery of domiciliary care services
, ensuring high standards of person-centred care in line with regulatory requirements set by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
The post holder will act as the
CQC Registered Person
, providing strong leadership and direction to staff, overseeing daily operations, and driving continuous improvement across the service. They will ensure the service meets all statutory, contractual, and quality standards while promoting dignity, independence, and wellbeing for people supported in their own homes.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading and managing the domiciliary care service in compliance with CQC regulations and Fundamental Standards
Ensuring robust safeguarding, care planning, risk management, and medication practices
Recruiting, supervising, training, and developing staff
Maintaining accurate records, audits, and quality assurance systems
Managing budgets, rotas, and service capacity (where applicable)
Acting as the main point of contact for regulators, commissioners, service users, and families
Preparing for and responding to CQC inspections and monitoring visits
The Registered Manager must hold (or be working towards) a
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (Adult Management)
and have
substantial management experience within domiciliary care
.

Essential Qualifications
A Registered Manager is
expected to hold or be working towards
one of the following:
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People's Services (Adult Management pathway)
(This is the current standard and most widely accepted qualification.)
OR (legacy but still recognised):
Level 4 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Management)
NVQ Level 4/5 in Health and Social Care
Registered Manager Award (RMA)
