At St Luke's, our retail operations directly fund the expert, compassionate care we deliver to patients and families across Sheffield. We're looking for an organised, proactive, and people-focused Donation Centre Supervisor to help us keep things moving behind the scenes. Based at our Donation Centre, you'll play a key role in ensuring our stores are well-stocked, our volunteers feel supported, and our high standards are always maintained.
About the role
As a Donation Centre Supervisor, you'll assist the Management Team in the day-to-day running of the Donation Centre - the busy hub where all our donated goods arrive, are sorted, and then distributed to our shops across the region.
This is a hands-on, physical role involving stock handling, processing, and logistics coordination, as well as supporting and supervising a dedicated team of staff and volunteers. You'll be a key holder, responsible for safe opening/closing of the premises, ensuring health and safety compliance, and helping us maintain a positive, respectful environment in line with St Luke's values.
What you'll do
Sort, process, and manage donated goods in line with retail needs and Gift Aid procedures
Ensure quality, efficiency, and timeliness in stock handling and van deliveries
Supervise, support and motivate volunteers and team members
Ensure the Centre is safe, secure, clean and compliant with all H&S standards
Identify valuable or unique items and liaise with our vintage and e-commerce teams
Support volunteer recruitment, training, and induction processes
Hold keys and ensure secure opening and closing of the premises as required
What we're looking for
Experience in a supervisory or team-leading role, ideally in a warehouse, logistics or retail environment
Strong organisational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting
A hands-on, practical approach and willingness to do physical work
Excellent communication skills and a friendly, professional manner
Confidence in promoting a safe working environment and adhering to procedures
Commitment to St Luke's values: Compassionate, Dignified, Inspired, and Pioneering
