Job Description

Due to continued growth, Preston Plywood is seeking an experienced and motivated Doorset Estimator to join our expanding team. This is a permanent position based in Preston, offering full training and development opportunities. While prior experience in doorset estimating is preferred, it is not essential for the right candidate with relevant skills.

Role Overview

As a Doorset Estimator, you will play a key role in supporting our project delivery by preparing accurate and competitive estimates for doorset solutions. Your responsibilities will include:

Producing detailed cost estimates that account for specifications, materials, and labour requirements. Reviewing and interpreting customer documentation, project drawings, and tender materials. Creating and issuing quotes that align with business goals and client expectations. Developing production schedules for integration into our manufacturing systems. Applying pricing strategies using company cost books and offering value-engineered solutions where appropriate. Working collaboratively with internal departments including sales, production, and procurement to ensure project accuracy and feasibility.

Key Skills & Experience

Demonstrated experience in doorset estimating across both standard and bespoke product ranges. Excellent analytical and numerical skills, with strong attention to detail. Confident communicator with experience in professional email and phone correspondence. Competency in door scheduling and Microsoft Office applications. Highly organised and capable of working independently to meet tight deadlines. Flexibility to assist with other business areas, such as estimating for sheet materials. Ideally holds, or is working towards, qualifications such as a Diploma from the Guild of Architectural Ironmongers or Fire Door Alliance. Experience with RTIS (Real Time Information Systems) is advantageous.
