Salary:

The total starting salary is 38,793 which includes allowances totalling 2,928 and a 12.5% shift allowance.


The salary is broken down as 31,880 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale 34,108 Plus, a 12.5% shift allowance, location allowance of 1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of 1,000.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the new and fast evolving Digital Exploitation Team (DET) within the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) Anti-Corruption & Abuse Command. The team implements innovative digital solutions to solve complex problems, enhance intelligence to assist operations, and to direct strategies to counter corruption and uphold professionalism.




As an intelligence researcher, your contributions and inquisitive mind-set will be invaluable. We are currently seeking innovative and creatively minded individuals with a passion for interpreting data to solve complex problems to counter corruption. You will be involved with receiving and handling intelligence from a range of sources, interrogating and collating this in easily digestible formats where necessary. These sources may be overt, covert and highly sensitive in nature, therefore this role requires a high level of personal integrity. Working at the forefront of upholding the professionalism and reputation of the MPS, you will develop intelligence and evidential reports based on audit insights. This will contribute to targeting and mitigating the greatest internal risks and threats the MPS are currently facing.


The team is continuously evolving, presenting an exciting opportunity to mould the team to how it needs to be to effectively tackle corruption within the force. Therefore, your alternative perspectives and ideas are welcomed and will be necessary to deliver the Commissioners turnaround plan objectives concerning More Trust, Less Crime and High Standards. Your contributions will be at the forefront of driving true cultural change within the force.

Key Responsibilities:



Review, risk assess, triage and prioritise data. Your decisions will be supported by colleagues and line managers. Obtain, review, and collate information from audit reports from MPS systems and applications to develop intelligence and support operations within DPS. Conduct Open-Source checks in conjuncture with MPS systems and other digital capabilities on the team and across the department, to enhance intelligence development. Use specialist tools to assist in the analysis and visual interpretation of complex datasets. Complete intelligence reports to inform and assist operations and support risk management initiatives across the anti-corruption command, disseminating key findings in accordance with handling instructions. Assist analysts in the identification of themes and trends present across datasets, to support operational and strategic work and inform counter-corruption strategy within the force. Liaise with key stakeholders across the anti-corruption command, leveraging contacts and resources to assist in the research and interpretation of data. Contribute to identifying, testing, and implementing new processes and solutions as the team evolves, ensuring we are targeting the right areas to effectively counter corruption and provide valuable intelligence. This will include processing tasking requests to create bespoke visualisations and reports using specialist software to solve problems. Make use of new technologies and innovation to streamline existing processes and to identify new methods of detecting corruption. Adhere to compliance and relevant legislation, such as IPA, PACE, CPIA, Computer Misuse Act, ECHR and Data Protection, understanding where breaches of these may have occurred to warrant investigation. Undertake continuous professional development, accreditation, and specialist digital training to enhance technical knowledge, and support others across the command.

This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) level before taking up the post

We are multi-disciplinary team, with opportunities to specialise in several key areas. These areas currently consist of but are not limited to; Programming & Data Science, Network & Technical Infrastructure knowledge, Operational & Open-Source support, Strategic Analysis & Research.


Experience in one or more of these areas would be beneficial.

The MPS Competency Values Framework and MPS Values will be tested during the interview process.


The operational hours of the unit will be 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday, operating on a shift basis (8 hours per shift).


Although this is mainly an office-based role, we can accommodate flexible and hybrid work from home opportunities in line with core resilience needs. Currently, this sits at 4 days in the office and 1 day working from home. This may be reviewed.
